Sorry folks for being slow to get engaged. My name is Mike Smyth. I’ve been sick for most of the past week, coughing and wheezing. Sheesh.
I have been a board member for a while on a not for profit in Ontario my wife and I started in 1997 to support kids like our special needs son David. We live and work in Victoria area now. I’ve also had some limited experience on small publicly traded “for profit” companies. I wouldn’t say my governance instincts are very strong, it was always all hands on deck and no sneaky stuff around the money. Caring about the cause and your fellow board members, keeping meeting minutes/decisions and compliance reporting current was quite important I feel. Hi Mike, glad to hear you are feeling better, I guess one of the benefits of online learning is no sharing colds. It sounds like you have lots of great learning to share being the cofounder of a non profit. I look forward to learning more about it. Cheers Lisa
