      Hi, everyone:
I’m Carolyn Fast, Executive Director of the BCACC for the past 3.5 years. I have worked in non-profits for 35 years and served on various boards and committees over the years as a volunteer. I’m not currently volunteering on a board, but certainly am active with a board in my job.
My favourite vacation spot over the past years has been my sister’s home in Campbell River! They live right on the water overlooking Quadra Island. The views are spectacular, the food is wonderful, and the company superior! Away from the Island my last travels were in Normandy, France and that was wonderful as well. Also coastal – a theme, I think!
I have completed a Master’s degree in an online program, so am familiar with online learning. Also taught an undergrad course at UVic for one term a few years ago, so I have been on both sides of the computer screen – learner and instructor.
I am interested in continuing my learning about boards. Our Association is in the midst of significant organizational change, including our governance structure, so it will be fun to see how well we are doing.

Hello Carolyn, lovely to have you in this course I know you have lots of insights on Governance. It is interesting to be in a place of significant change. I inherited a quote from the former ED at Volunteer Victoria. It is a Will Rogers quote that says “even when you are in the right track you will get over by the train if you sit still.” They are wise words for a non profit these days.

      Cheers, Lisa
