What is Volunteer Victoria?
Volunteer Victoria is a registered non-profit society that connects volunteers with more than 300 non-profit agencies in Greater Victoria.
If I am a youth, how do I volunteer?
If you are between the ages of 15 and 29 our Youth Volunteer Program can help connect you with 100’s of existing volunteer options, or help you build a specialized position that suits your interests and needs. The Youth Team can give you an orientation to our online database of local volunteer positions, advise you about the range of positions and organizations available, and prepare you for an interview with a volunteer coordinator. They can even help you translate your volunteer experiences into work-place language to help build your resume. Not to mention, volunteering helps you make connections and give back in ways that matter to you!
If I am an adult, how do I volunteer?
Adults come to Volunteer Victoria with a whole range of knowledge and experiences. Some adult volunteers know exactly what they want to do and just need some help finding a place to volunteer. Other times, volunteers want to try something completely new and need help to figure out how and where to make this happen. We can provide you with an orientation to our online database so you can self-select from 100’s of positions each week, connect you with a volunteer advisor who can help narrow down options, or we can help you build a position and connect you to agencies in need.
What types of positions are out there for me?
There are several hundred volunteer positions posted on our volunteer database and the positions vary from one-time opportunities at an event or festival, to high engagement opportunities that require a weekly or long-term commitment. Only you can decide what works best for you, so we encourage agencies to create flexible positions and to be clear about expectations.
How do I register for your workshops?
Volunteer Victoria uses a system called EventBrite to manage our workshop registrations. New workshops and training opportunities are added to the site weekly and we normally feature events scheduled in the next two months on the site. Please visit www.volunteervictoria.eventbrite.ca to review our workshops and to register. If you are unable to register online, please call us at 250.386.2269 and we can process your registration over the phone.
