Communicating over Facebook: Will it work for us too?

We, in the Youth Volunteer Connections Program at Volunteer Victoria, have been wondering how to best communicate online with the young people who seek our support in finding meaningful volunteer opportunities. The blog post below was forwarded to us, and it has changed how we do things. It’s time: we are now ready to include facebook as a communication option with youth who prefer it. Each youth staff is creating his/her own professional profile, for example, you can find me at facebook/Leanna at Volunteer Victoria. Welcome Youth Council Volunteers!

 

Volunteer Victoria is pleased to welcome our new youth council volunteers to our social media team! The group first met in October to discuss how we could go about implementing social media as a part of our volunteer management and recruitment strategy. I was very impressed by the group’s insight and inventiveness, as well as their enthusiasm! This team had so many ideas to share, including offering input on everything from our current (and future) branding, to how we might more effectively manage our Facebook page.
