Hi Stacy and Martin, thanks for commenting. Stacy, we've been looking at marketing for nonprofits lately too, and so we've organized a day-long workshop on the topic on July 15. Join us if you can make the trek over from the mainland!

Wow, that is revealing. That first point-of-contact sets such a tone for people, yet it's often not felt as a priority for non-profits who are trying to get the mission done. And reception falls into the vastly underrated "administrative" piece of non-profit work (which funders dearly want capped at 10%).

I've been considering the role of customer service and its sister, marketing, in non-profits. For-profits fully recognize that getting a message out, and providing quality experience when that message is received and acted on, takes time and money to ensure. Considerable budget goes towards it (far more of a budget, in many cases, than the costs of producing a product).

Hmmm

I think you hit the nail on the head in your article about emerging leaders. I am a communications associate for the READ Society and I think this sounds like a great opportunity to start a discussion about what leadership will look like in the non-profit world in the near future. Great initiative!

Hi Maureen,
Thanks for inquiring about an advanced Twitter seminar from Volunteer Victoria. We actually ran this back in the spring - it was called "Using Hootsuite to Manage Twitter" (see blog post) - but we could consider doing it again in the fall.

We advertise our upcoming workshops in our E-link bi-weekly e-newsletter. If you aren't already receiving E-link then you can subscribe by clicking the link on the top right hand side of this blog. Thanks again for your enquiry!

Hi Crystal,
I know we spoke on the phone but I thought I'd still respond here so that others could see my response. Now that you are an Executive Director, I'd like to connect you instead to our ED Network. Good luck in your new position!
